Types and amount of food that promote health and well being is known as Balanced diet.
An optimal diet includes sufficient water, adequate calories, provides
a sale adequate basal maintenance amount. Calories requirement varies according
to activity level and body height and weight. An average person needs 2000-3000
Kcal/day. Balanced diet should contain adequate amount of carbohydrate, protein
and fat along with minerals and vitamins.
In average
middle class diet approximately 50-60 % of calories come from carbohydrates
with increase in complex carbohydrate, at least 12-15% of total calories should
be ingested as protein and 25-30% should be from fat.
